Using and finding ebooks at UC San Diego

Personal account required? A personal account (My EBSCOhost folder) is required to download ebooks for offline reading, place holds, save books to your folder, or create notes.
Online Viewing? Browser-based reader, supports all major browsers. In the book record view, the PDF Full-Text link will open the ebook reader. 
Can more than one person use the same book? Most of the books allow for one user at a time.
How much time do you have with the book? Within the reader, you have the book until you close the browser, move to another book, or after 30 minutes of inactivity.
Save or print pages as a PDF?

You can create PDFs of chapters or selected pages to download, email, print, or save to Google Drive. The daily limit per book is usually 60 pages, though some publishers have set lower limits, or as much as 100 pages/day.  Some publishers may not allow any pages to be saved or printed.

Copy text? Yes, but no images. Highlight the passage you want to copy, then copy and paste into Word.
Download for offline reading? Yes, if you see Download This Ebook (offline) in the record. Download through Adobe Digital Editions or the EBSCO ebook app. After 24 hours, book must be checked out and downloaded again if you want to continue. Some books can be downloaded in ePub as well as PDF formats. Instructions on downloading ebooks
Place a hold on a book in use? Yes, with a My EBSCOhost account. 
Export citations for ebooks? You can copy and paste the citation in multiple styles like APA and MLA, or export the citation into EndNote or BibTeX.
Create your own 'bookshelf' of viewed and saved titles? You can save books to your My EBSCOhost folder.
Notetaking/annotations feature? Yes, with a My EBSCOhost account.
Highlight? No.
Create persistent links to ebooks? Yes.
